CHURCH DIARY

The 2010 diary is now at the back of the Church. If any church organisation plans any activity in either church or hall, please make sure it’s entered in the diary. Please note that the halls need to be booked through the usual channels and that an entry in the church diary is no guarantee that the facility is available or has priority.

201 CLUB

We are still supporting Step by Step, who help single, homeless people in the area. Membership is £12 per year, half going to the charity and half paid back to members in prizes. Tony and Sure Evans would be pleased to give you more information and sign up new members.

LENT LUNCH

Fr Martyn invites you to a soup lunch each Friday in Lent in Trinity Hall at 1pm.* The money raised will support this year’s request from Bishop Keith that we complete the raising of funds for a vehicle for the Bishop of Ho in Ghana. Although £2,500 has been raised already (some of it by ourselves) the rest is required urgently. You may also give any Sunday, of course. Thank you.

VICAR’S CALL

Fr Martyn is conscious that some people don’t find it convenient to catch him on a Sunday morning. If you’d like him to call, especially during Lent, please contact him and book a visit.

BOOK NOW FOR WALSINGHAM

We have reserved 12 places at the Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham for a four-day midweek pilgrimage from Tuesday 22 to Friday 25 June. The cost, with generous full board, is £146.05. If you would like to be part of the group, please contact Danielle Kay or speak to Fr Martyn. A non-refundable £20 deposit will be required by Sunday 21 March, with the balance due no later than 13 June.

CHURCH ELECTORAL ROLL AND ELECTIONS

Each year the Church Electoral Roll is tidied up before the Annual Parochial Church Meeting which will take place on Sunday 25 April. If you want your name added to the existing Church Electoral Roll, Corinne Chapman will advise you and give you the necessary form for completion. You qualify if you live in the Parish or have attended worship here regularly over at least the last six months. Being on the roll means you have a vote in church elections, including those for Churchwardens and the Parochial Church Council. Nomination forms for these positions will be available shortly, so please consider if you would like to serve the parish in either capacity.

CONFIRMATION DATE

Bishop Keith has indicated that he will come to Baptise and Confirm on Friday 11 June, St Barnabas’ Day, at 7.30pm. All candidates are asked to make themselves available and members of the congregation should likewise set the date aside in their diaries to ensure a full turnout. Thank you.

CHRISM MASS

Book your seat on the coach for Portsmouth Cathedral on Saturday 27 March. We’ll be leaving Holy Trinity at 10am for the Chrism Mass celebrated with Bishop Keith (of Richborough). There will be time for lunch before departing Portsmouth around 4pm. £7 per seat, under 18s £3. The booking sheets are displayed in the porch.

BOYS’ VOICES

We’ll welcome back this local choir for a pre-Easter recital in aid of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice on Sunday 29 March at 6.30pm. There will be no evening service at Holy Trinity.

VIGIL PSALMS

Fr Martyn would like to form an ‘ad-hoc’ choir to sing the psalms at the Easter Vigil service this year. Please add your name to the list in the church porch. Thank you.
